Jerry and I were married in 1974. We both had our own
careers, I as an elementary P.E. Teacher, and Jerry a
Lettering Artist at
Hallmark
Cards in
Kansas City. Kids were the farthest things from our
minds. We wanted “Dogs”, “Big Dogs”. So, we purchased
our first Great Dane and have never regretted our
choice.
Over the years, we have had many Champions and
companions that have filled our lives with enjoyment and
purpose. Many of our Champions have been out of
Am/Int’l
Ch. Lobato’s She’s The One v Dreammaker HOF, ROM, "Olivia",
(dam of 17 champions to date), and BISS Am/Int’l Ch.
Rockingdane’s In Cahoots, "Megan", producer of
BIS BISS Am/Intl'lCh. Lobato’s
Anything Goes HOF, AOM, ROM, CGC, TDI "Emmie"
and her sister Am/BIS Int'l Çh. Lobato’s Mad About You, CGC, "KC".
Olivia is the proud producer of one of our recent BIS,
BISS,
and Multiple Breed and Group Winning
Am/BIS Int’l Ch. Lobato’s Thr Can
Be Only One AOM, TDI, CGC, "Duncan".
My most prestigious accomplishment in the Dane world is
of being the breeder and owner of Emmie. In 2003-4, she
was the #1 All Breed with 16 BIS and 8 BISS, Hall of
Fame GDCA, 2004, Top 20 contender 2003-5, #7 Working Dog
2003-4. #36 dog in the country 2004. Emmie is truly one
of the top winning Great Danes in the country. Needless
to say, I am very proud of her and her handler, Earl
Shore.
Emmie has had 3 litters. In the first litter, 4 out of
the 5 puppies have finished to date. In her 2nd litter,
1 has finished out 2.
Young, rising
stars are already making us proud in her last litter of
7, 2 having finished to date. At the 2007 Nationals in PA, one of her
puppies took Best in Futurity, one took Junior Reserve Dog
and one of her Champions took an Award of Merit. In
early 2008 one of Emmie's offspring has also earned the
title of BISS.
I am also proud to say that I have produced Olivia who
has been the #1 Brood Bitch 2 years in a row 2005-6
for GDCA. She has 17 champions to date, including Duncan.
I have enjoyed handling not only Danes but many
different breeds throughout the years. In the not too
distant future, I will be concentrating on the judging
aspect of the
sport.
Lobato Great Danes strives for soundness
of structure and
movement,
solid temperaments,
combined with
superior health and longevity. We believe a Great
Dane best represents the working breed as a whole
picture having a balanced look, not too extreme in any
one area while
possessing the ability to move as a true
representation of the breed.
We count
ourselves fortunate to have
owned and bred
some very nice representatives of the breed
and intend to
continue in this direction.
