Jerry and I were married in 1974. We both had our own careers, I as an elementary P.E. Teacher, and Jerry a Lettering Artist at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. Kids were the farthest things from our minds. We wanted “Dogs”, “Big Dogs”. So, we purchased our first Great Dane and have never regretted our choice.

Over the years, we have had many Champions and companions that have filled our lives with enjoyment and purpose. Many of our Champions have been out of Am/Int’l Ch. Lobato’s She’s The One v Dreammaker HOF, ROM, "Olivia", (dam of 17 champions to date), and BISS Am/Int’l Ch. Rockingdane’s In Cahoots, "Megan", producer of BIS BISS Am/Intl'lCh. Lobato’s Anything Goes HOFS, AOM, ROM, CGC, TDI "Emmie" and her sister Am/BIS Int'l Çh. Lobato’s Mad About You, CGC, "KC".
Emmie is the dam of 10 champions to date, and one of our recent multiple BIS BISS GCH Ch. Lobato’s Code Red, “Cody.” Olivia is the proud producer of one of our BIS, BISS, and Multiple Breed and Group Winning Am/BIS Int’l Ch. Lobato’s Thr Can Be Only One AOM, TDI, CGC, "Duncan".

My most prestigious accomplishment in the Dane world is of being the breeder and owner of Emmie. In 2003-4, she was the #1 All Breed with 16 BIS and 8 BISS, Hall of Fame GDCA, 2004, Top 20 contender 2003-5, #7 Working Dog 2003-4. #36 dog in the country 2004. Emmie was truly one of the top winning Great Danes in the country. Needless to say, I was very proud of her and her handler, Earl Shore.

Emmie has had 3 litters. In the first litter,
4 out of 5 puppies have finished and the 5th puppy received International and Therapy Dog titles. In her 2nd litter, 1 has finished out of 2. In her last litter of 5 out of 7 have finished. At the 2007 Nationals in PA, one of her puppies took Best in Futurity, one took Junior Reserve Dog and one of her Champions took an Award of Merit. In 2010 two of Emmie’s offspring have been recipients of BISS titles, and one has followed in her footsteps with 4 BIS titles while winning multiple Best of Breed and Group placements.

I produced Olivia who was the #1 Brood Bitch 2 years in a row 2005-6 for GDCA. Olivia has the distinction of being the Top Brood bitch in history with her record of 17 champions to date, including Duncan.

I have enjoyed handling not only Danes but many different breeds throughout the years. In the not too distant future, I will be concentrating on the judging aspect of the sport.

Lobato Great Danes strives for soundness of structure and movement, solid temperaments, combined with superior health and longevity. We believe a Great Dane best represents the working breed as a whole picture having a balanced look, not too extreme in any one area while possessing the ability to move as a true representation of the breed.

We count ourselves fortunate to have owned and bred some very nice representatives of the breed and intend to continue in this direction
